400 Years At Half-Staff

On July 4th, we celebrate America’s freedom by waving the American flag, but not all Americans are completely free. For over 400 years, the system has threatened the freedom of Black Americans.

On America’s day of freedom, we wanted to remind people that for all the progress we’ve made so far we still have much work to do. For the Courageous Conversation Global Foundation we built an AR Instagram filter that allowed you to place a flag at half-staff in your environment. We pushed the limits of Spark AR to create textures that responded adequately to their environment by sampling colors in camera space.
